De Falco, a family tradition.
In three generations they achieve the direct selling of their own wine production.
The roots of De Falco family are in Naples but after World War II they moved to the Salento area in Puglia. Here they use to run a wine and bulk wine business. The production plants are located in Novoli, not far from Lecce, in a central street of the village where, confirming the viticulture vocation of the area, there used to be several wineries and a distillery.
Nowadays the company is managed by Salvatore De Falco assisted by his son Gabriele. They process grapes purchased from small farmers in the area nearby, preferring mainly autochthonous grape varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera, Verdeca. "The typical characteristics of our grapes and the identity of our wines are highly appreciated by foreign consumers," says Gabriele De Falco. "We are always ready to filter needs and signals coming from the market and try to make them compatible with ours, without distorting our products ".
“I oppose the introduction of international grape varieties in this territory,” he adds. “I am not against it, in principle, to French barrels even if I do prefer American wood. Barriques, if used wisely, are good allies for the aging of wines made from our local vines.”
