In 1998, the Tuscan Antinori family - great Italian wine-growing pioneers - decided to invest in Puglia, trusting in the region’s potential and professional know-how. One of the family’s two estates is Bocca di Lupo at Minervino Murge. The winery building has been constructed entirely in stone by skilled local workmen, in the style of Puglia’s old masseria farmsteads, and offers a superb view over the 130 hectares of vineyards. The second estate is Masseria Maìme at San Pietro Vernotico, with an area of around 500 hectares, including vineyards, olives and other crops. The two estates are an example of innovation and tradition, and the staff led by Giuseppe Palumbo are all from Puglia. Substantial investments and hard work have allowed the winery to become one of the best representatives of Puglia’s wine-making sector, and its quality wines give a good expression of the potential possessed by the native varieties and the region’s wine-growing areas.
