
Among the three DOCGs established in the Castel del Monte area in 2011, Castel del Monte Nero di Troia Riserva DOCG is the one most closely linked to the area’s native red grape per excellence, Nero di Troia. That grape must make up at least 90% of the wine, according to the production code, and the denomination wine must mature a minimum of two years, of which one in large oak ovals, before release.
