Francesco Winspeare and Francesco Marra have been running Castel di Salve with boundless enthusiasm since 1992. They have a total of 41 hectares of vineyards and mainly grow local varieties including Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera di Lecce, Montepulciano. The wine is made in an old winery building from the last century which is in the old town of Depressa near Tricase, one of the Salento’s tourist destinations.

Since the 1998 grape harvest, the winery has invested in a research project on the selection of grape varieties and on wine-making technology. Visitors can taste the wines when they tour the winery. The small but very interesting underground barrel cellar has been carefully restored to its former splendour, and the wine-tasting room is also very special.
