The winery was started in 1065 by Ruggero, and is now run by his descendants Giovan Battista, Anna, Fabrizio and Januaria Guarini.
They are following the same path as their ancestors who moved from Normandy to the Salento in the 11th century, and take passionate care of the vines, the olive trees and the other crops grown on their various estates. These vineyards grow the local Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera and Primitivo grape varieties mainly used for the wines.
Wine tourists and enthusiasts will appreciate the warm welcome by the owners to the atmospheric winery, built above a very old underground olive oil press now converted into a barrel cellar. In summer there is guided wine-tasting in the splendid citrus orchard, and in winter in the old winery building by the fireplace – an experience not to be missed.
