Run by Pierandrea Semeraro, Tenute Mater Domini was launched in 2003 at the heart of the Negroamaro Park, taking its inspiration from this very typical Salento grape variety. Tenute Mater Domini is surrounded by around 6 hectares of ancient olive trees, which are in turn completely surrounded by 80 hectares of splendid rows of old alberello vineyards near Salice Salentino. Some of these vines are up to seventy years old, including the Malvasia Nera used with Negroamaro in Salice Salentino doc. The wonderful winery building has recently been restored and it retains the typical features of an old local farmstead or masseria. One building is for wine-making, while the other is dedicated to visitors and offers wine tourists every comfort. There is also an elegant winebar and a wine-tasting room.
