Torrevento

A good micro-climate and rocky hillsides, together with careful selection of the grapes and modern wine-making technology all combine to enhance Puglia’s main native vines, including Nero di Troia, Aglianico, Bombino Bianco and Nero, Moscato Reale, Malvasia and Negroamaro. Torrevento was started by the Liantonio family in 1920, and the winery building is an imposing eighteenth century monastery, from which you access the large underground wine cellar carved out of the rock, and the interesting barrel cellar. Innovation and tradition are the two mainstays of the ethos of this winery run by Francesco Liantonio, outstanding in that it has zero impact on the environment. The old stables have now been converted into a splendid wine-tasting room to welcome enthusiasts and tourists.
